On this page: Surgeon's Knot

The Surgeon's Knot is ideal for joining to unequal diameter lines together. This knot should be used if the Uni-Knot and the Blood-Knot do not work.

Surgeon's Knot Instructions:

Step 1: Lay the line and leader parallel, with about a 6 to 8 inch overlap.

Step 2: Tie a simple overhand knot with both lines together. Both the short end and the long end should be completely pulled through.

Step 3: Don't tighten the knot yet. Go through again with both ends exactly the same as the first time.

Step 4: Hold all ends and pull the knot tight. Trim the ends.
